Emotions reflected in tranquility!

Again another birthday celebration is around the corner. 25 se baishakh (9 May, this year) is our beloved poet's b'day. In a world full of unfaithfulness where showing respect for human values / morality have become a rare phenomena.. we again are planning to observe 25 se baishakh.

The newspaper adv. columns are again getting filled up with the announcements of Rabindra-Jayanati celebrations. The top-artists are having very hectic schedule to perform in all the stages. It is like yet another festival for Bengalees. A day when you remember that you are bengali. We brush up your almost-forgotten skills of wearing sarees and dhotis; murmur some lines of the most popular Rabidrasangeet songs without realising it. Time to clean up the dusts from the top of some old rabindrasangeet records. Time to discover that turmite started spreading in the bottom of 'Sachayita' (Collection of Tagore poems). And most impotantly it's the time to buy some new Rabindrasangeet cassettes/CDs (HMV's paradise!) and proudly talk about that among your friends that you have got the recent-most cassette of the most renowned singer.

But unfortunately amidts all these we forget the follow the words that the Man said 100 years ago. We celebrate the idol but dont respect the person. Why this show-off?

What civilization are we living in?

If this is what civilization means then we better be uncivilized. We may not computers but at least we'll restore out humanity.

What answer can we give to these children. What will the learn from this? How can we expect them to show respect for this society. What answer do we have for innocent this lady who has lost her everything? We are ashamed for our own sophistication.

Infact this one incident opens our eyes and puts us infront of a fundamental question : What do we mean by civilization?

When darkness sets in

Poet wrote it long time back " odbhut andhar ek esechhe e prithibite aaj.." ( What an unprecedented darkness has entered our world of late ..)! (excuse me, very poor translation)

So this is our known place .. but looking unknown in the dark. As if a barren place, with no life in it.

A darkness has set in .. all on a sudden?!

Atleast that is what is seems, through the looking glass .. the familiar world looks so misterious.

I have come back after a long time .. as if being born for the second time .. my blog account was lost .. I was not able to access my own site with the old address .. and then one friend helped to to form a temporary one .. but I did not feel like writing after that .. it is something like your own child is uanble to recognise you .. now after a long time getting suggestion from the same friend I tried with the old account and it worked. I felt so delighted that felt like writing something .. not meaningful enough but still writing for the sake of it .. just to let myself aware that I am back.
